Cheap illuminated signs in Tenerife: how to save without it showing
Cheap illuminated signs in Tenerife that don't look cheap. Real tricks to save on your LED sign, most affordable types and what you must NOT cut corners on.
“I want an illuminated sign, but cheap.” Perfect — it can be done. What can’t be done is a cheap sign and poorly made that’s switched off after six months. Here we tell you how to have an affordable LED sign in Tenerife that’s still working in three years’ time.
Why 3D printing makes signs cheaper
Traditional aluminium signage is expensive because each letter is cut, bent and welded by hand: workshop hours that you pay for. 3D printing manufactures the body of each letter in one piece, with the LED channel already integrated. No moulds, no welding, no manual bending — and that shows in the price: a sign that costs €1,500 in traditional signage can come out at less than half.
The most affordable types of sign
If budget is king, these are the formats that give the most impact for less money:
| Format | From | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Backlit wall logo | €150 | Receptions, shops, hairdressers |
| LED neon flex sign | from €120 | Bars, cafés, interior decoration |
| Interior LED built-up letters | €300 | Shops, offices |
| Tabletop / counter sign | €90 | Events, trade fairs, food trucks |
Five ways to really save
- Halo effect instead of illuminated front: fewer LEDs, same impact at night.
- Logo + flat text instead of all built-up: you illuminate only what catches attention.
- Honest sizing: an 80 cm sign well placed looks better than a 2 m one poorly situated — and costs considerably less.
- Neon flex for interiors: the classic neon effect without the consumption or fragility of gas neon.
- Repairable design: if a letter gets damaged, only that one is reprinted, not the entire sign.
What you should NOT cut corners on
Saving yes; taking risks, no. If your sign is going outdoors, there are two things that are non-negotiable:
- Material with UV protection (ASA) for exterior: cheap plastic turns yellow and brittle in months under the Canary Islands sun.
- IP65 sealed LED electronics: so that the first rain with southerly wind doesn’t switch off half your sign.
We explain it in detail in which sign withstands coastal climate. A “cheap” sign that needs replacing after a year works out very expensive.
